Traveling Back in Time

This is an update that was supposed to be done "WAY BACK IN THE DAY!" It won't be a long one- just some snippets of info accompanied by pictures.

Just pretend you have been brought back in time...

I took a class trip with my students to some hidden caves that not many people know about. Inside the dark, damp caves there are millions of glow worms- tiny little creatures that dangle from the walls and emit white light. Absolutely incredible. Mind-boggling to think that God has all these hidden wonders around the world, simply existing for His glory and pleasure. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any pictures of them because of the cave's poor lighting, but here are a few of the trek down to the caves.

Sam and I were also youth leaders for our church camp. It was a spiritually refreshing time as we studied God's word and what it has to say about our callings/vocations in life. We also enjoyed bonding with the youth through various team-building activities and games. I made a humourous mistake as a group leader during one of our tasks. My team had to put themselves in order of birthday months without speaking- only gestures were allowed to be used. After they had arranged themselves and indicated that they were in the correct order, I went around to verify this. Each person whispered their birthday month to me. One girl simply said, "Today"(December 15). However, the person before her had said November 19, and the person after her said December 30. I told them they were in the wrong order and they had to do it all over again. This happened about 4 times. On the last try, the girl said "December 15" instead of her typical reply "Today". Instantly, it clicked in my mind- I had just assumed that, because it was sunny and we were at church camp, her "today" birthday was in July! I forgot that we were actually in the month of December- my poor team had been in the correct order all along!

To really remind us of home, guess what we did? Picked raspberries and sold them at the end of our driveway :)! Sound familiar? We tried this new business venture for about a week, and, after the most depressing first day (vicious wind, rain and lots of leftover raspberries!), sales picked up and we made enough moola to go on a family vacation together!

The book I helped edit has been published! For being on such a short time limit (I had to do as much editing as possible in about 2-3 weeks while also teaching full time- C-R-A-Z-Y!), I am reasonably pleased and thankful that I survived this first, rushed editing experience; however, I'm frustrated with some errors the publishing company made! Soon I will be starting on the next book. Thankfully, this time I will have around a year to do it which is much more realistic and will probably result in higher quality editing. Together with the pastor and his family, we had a little celebration, as it is his first published book.

Alright... it's time for me to check out and get some stuff done around this house. We just got back from vacation last night and I still have tents, sleeping bags and laundry piled on my floors! Update will come soon with pictures of our sunny time on the north island.

Till then...Cheerio!
